The benefits of collecting art, more than just a hobby

In this short blog post I want to briefly touch (and possibly expand some of these points at a later moment) what are some of the benefits of collecting art. As it can be a way to invest in something that has both aesthetic and financial value.

Here are a few benefits of collecting art:

  1. Investment potential: Art can be a valuable asset that increases in value over time. Some pieces of art have appreciated in value so much that they are now considered priceless.
And there's no need to wait for the artist to die anymore :)

  2. Cultural enrichment: Collecting art allows you to engage with different cultures and historical moments.
You can learn about different art movements, artists, and techniques, which can deepen your understanding and appreciation of the world around you.

  3. Personal fulfillment: Collecting art can be a very personal endeavour. It allows you to surround yourself with pieces that you love and that speak to you on a personal level.
Having art in your home can also be a source of inspiration and motivation.

  4. Social connections: Collecting art can also be a way to connect with other art lovers. You can attend art fairs, visit galleries, and join art clubs and organisations to meet other people who share your passion for art.

  5. Supporting artists: Collecting art is also a way to support artists, especially emerging ones. By purchasing their work, you are helping them to continue creating and contributing to the cultural landscape.
Invest in that artist you discovered on Instagram, you'll make their day!

Collecting art is more than just a hobby, it is an investment in both financial and cultural value. It can be a way to connect with other art lovers, support artists and a source of personal fulfillment and inspiration
